Karla G de la Fuente


Karla Gabriela De La Fuente was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. From a young age she was interested in visual arts. As a teenager, she was the editor in chief of her high school yearbook. At this time, she learned to love elements of graphic design, photography, and visual storytelling.

Besides studying the principals of art and art history, she also spent her collegiate years learning about psychology, political science, human anatomy and structure. These elements continue to be a source of inspiration for her work. She is first generation college graduate and is certified to teach art in all grade levels in the state of Texas.

De La Fuente’s work has been on display in The Upper Valley Art League, The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, Edward Jones Investments, and Las Palmas Hotel’s International Day of Discovery, Quinta Mazatlán’s Prickly Pear Social, MUJER RGV Album Release Party, South Padre Island’s Film Art and Music Festival and Phoenix Gallery’s Genuine Fakes Exhibition. She uses an array of mediums including Pastel, Oil Paint, Acrylic Paint, Fibers, Digital Illustrations, along with recycled plastics to create unique and meaningful works of art.

Her artwork includes Renaissance inspired fiber portraits, Architectural based compositions, Mixed Media Collage using various textures depicting female nature, color block pieces focusing on shape and line and digital illustrations depicting contemporary innovators

De La Fuente resides in Mission, Texas with her young daughters and loving husband. Her educational goals include earning a Master’s Degree in Studio Art and a Ph.D. in Art Education.
