Hill Country painter
Arturo Mercado (August 26, 1938-June 21, 2015) was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He started painting Texas Hill Country landscapes and displaying his work at the G. Harvey Gallery, also known as the Shoal Creek Gallery. After becoming a full time artist in 1970, he began exhibiting his oil paintings in various galleries throughout Texas and Florida. Arturo also joined the art show circuit and participated in the Laguna Gloria Art Show in Austin, Texas for 25 years and was selected one year as the show’s featured artist. Arturo’s subject matter included Native American Indians, Texas wildlife, westerns,
Texas Hill Country landscapes, and snow scenes. His work continues to be displayed in various galleries and corporate and personal collections.
